"Undertow" Chad M Campbell Found Objects, Copper $400
Artist's Statement My work depicts the use of past and present experiences to obtain balance of mind and body while reacting to a bombardment of outside stimuli. This is achieved through the use of my chosen materials. Copper is a rigid, yet maliable metal, which is always changing, and absorbs other metals it comes in contact with. If a metal can be a parasite, copper is one. Found objects and recycled materials represent remnants of the past, life from death and a feeling of outlived usefulness. Physical balance and the number three are used to represent the desire to keep life on even keel. Together, they create a three dimensional representation of the mental and physical whirlwind that we all experience on a daily basis.
